Security Awareness Training

Protect your business from breaches with security awareness training from Box Lake Networks. Target the most vulnerable part of your company – your employees.

Why Invest in Security Training?

Unfortunately, humans can be very gullible. Over 90% of security breaches are caused by human error. Security awareness training seeks to lower this percentage by keeping your employees aware of common cyberattack methods and help them learn and practice avoiding them. More importantly, we encourage anyone to report if they think they’ve accidentally fallen for a phishing scam so we can take steps to secure your business.

How Security Awareness Training Works

Box Lake uses state of the art security training designed by cybersecurity experts and psychologists. We are able to send your employees regular phishing tests straight to their emails. If they fail the test by clicking the link, we are able to report that to your business, provide them with training material, and target them again to test for new understanding. Our training is customizable to better reflect how your employees might be targeted by real attacks.

Common Tips

Our training will go more in depth with your team later, but for now here are some common tips to avoid phishing attacks:

  • Always be suspicious of links and files sent over email. Especially watch out if you weren’t given a heads up. These links or files could be corrupt and install malware on your device.
  • Double check the sender. Some attackers can ‘spoof’ or imitate real people or email addresses, but viewing more details can show a different email address than what they claim to be sending from. See our article on email fraud for an example of this.
  • Hover over links before clicking. Hovering can show what the actual URL is, which may be different than what it is appearing as in your email. Again, this link could be corrupt and compromise your device.
  • When in doubt, ask. It is always better to double check with the sender to confirm what they are sending than asking for than to blindly trust their message. A slight delay in response is better than causing significant delays by corrupting an entire network or losing money by falling for a scam.
